The iconic Mamledar Misal stall at the Tehsildar office in Thane, known for its unique misal-pav, has been shut down after nearly 74 years of service. Generations of people visited this spot, especially in the mornings, making it a landmark for food lovers. Though officially called the Tehsildar office canteen, it was popularly known as Mamledar Misal. As news of its demolition spread, a large crowd gathered on Tuesday night to enjoy one last serving. By midnight and into Wednesday, the process of clearing the space began, and the structure has now been completely demolished due to road widening on Station Road. Started in 1952 by a family from Murdeshwar, Karnataka, and run by four generations, the stall was a go-to place for people visiting the office. Known for its filling and flavourful misal, it held a special place in the city’s food culture.
