A Child Safety and Cyber Security session was conducted at PTVEMS (Primary) on 2 April with the objective of spreading awareness among students about personal safety as well as the safe and responsible use of the internet.
The session was conducted by Mr B. B. Bangar (Police Hawaldar) and Mr C. M. Mane (Police Constable). Mr Bangar began the session by explaining the importance of both Child Safety and Cyber Security in a simple and engaging manner. He highlighted that while the internet is extremely useful, it can also be risky if not used carefully, and that being aware of one’s surroundings and personal safety is equally important.
He discussed different situations where children may unknowingly get into unsafe situations, both offline and online. These included interacting with strangers, sharing personal information, clicking on unknown links, or trusting unfamiliar people.
He explained that such actions could lead to serious consequences such as cyberbullying, financial loss, or personal harm. He also guided the students on the steps to take if they ever face such situations. He encouraged them to stay alert, avoid panic, and immediately inform their parents, teachers, or any trusted adult. Additionally, he shared the cybercrime helpline number – 1930
to report cyber-related issues. He also informed students that in case of any emergency or danger, they can dial 100 to seek immediate help from the police.
The session proved to be highly informative and engaging. Students gained valuable insights into the importance of both child safety and cyber security and learnt how to protect themselves and make responsible choices in their daily lives.
