Every student eventually faces the inevitable question: What next? For me, the answer emerged during a career awareness session where various professions were introduced. Among them, I felt a natural inclination towards the role of a Company Secretary (CS), a field that integrates law, governance, and strategic decision-making. The pathway to this profession through the Institute of Company Secretaries of India includes CSEET, Executive and Professional programmes, along with 21 months of training, culminating in membership. Although the path was incredibly challenging, my support team, including my parents and my mentors, helped me get through the ups and downs. Practical exposure further strengthened my understanding and during my internship, I contributed to incorporating a company in India for an overseas client. While it may appear procedural, for the client it marked the beginning of a meaningful venture— almost like welcoming a baby. Handling documentation and regulatory requirements instilled a strong sense of responsibility and privilege and at that moment, I discovered my Ikigai. This journey has also taught me the importance of balance. Simple moments like an occasional game of cricket or exploring unfamiliar places with spontaneity bring perspective, while adventure activities add a sense of thrill. Meditation anchors me, helping me maintain clarity, focus and stay spiritually grounded. For me, this journey is not just about a profession but being a growth partner to businesses, helping them grow with trust, integrity, and sustainable growth. At the end of the day, what matters is becoming someone who brings a difference.
